MV Commercial Invests in Advanced Load Simulation Technology to Meet Latest Brake Testing Regulations at its Luton Depot
MV Commercial has made a significant investment in advanced load simulation brake testing technology for heavy vehicles, bringing its testing capabilities fully in line with the latest changes to brake test legislation.

MV Commercial has made a significant investment in advanced load simulation brake testing technology for heavy vehicles, bringing its testing capabilities fully in line with the latest changes to brake test legislation.

The investment includes the installation of the Totalkare TK70 load simulation brake tester, designed specifically for heavy vehicles and featuring hydraulic lifting roller beds. Each roller bed is raised by four hydraulic cylinders and controlled via dedicated software with built-in safety features, ensuring protection for both the vehicle and operator throughout the brake testing process. The TK70 can lift axle loads of up to 16,000kg to a unique height of 255mm above floor level, allowing accurate and compliant testing across a wide range of vehicle configurations.
Importantly, operators no longer need to arrange or source physical loads to meet brake testing requirements, removing a common logistical challenge and reducing vehicle off road time.
Alongside this, the London Luton site has benefited from the installation of an additional new, inspection pit, doubling its testing and inspection capabilities, and further enhances the depot’s in-house testing capabilities, enabling more inspections and compliance checks to be carried out at the site, significantly improving turnaround times and operational efficiency.
The introduction of in-house load simulation and inspection pit enhances service levels for both retail customers and local operators across the London and Luton areas, further strengthening MV Commercial’s position as a comprehensive, end-to-end service provider for commercial vehicle operators.
The expansion has also created new employment opportunities, with several skilled technicians recruited to carry out the specialist testing and support the growing operation.
Paul Wagner, Luton Depot Manager, commented:
Our Luton depot is continuing to grow and evolve into a true one-stop shop for the London and Luton area. Customers can access a wide range of ready-to-go trucks, trailers, and vans, alongside specialist testing and support services, all under one roof.
This investment forms part of MV Commercial’s wider ongoing commitment to infrastructure and service improvements across all sites.
