Did you see the great feature on MV Commercial in last week’s Commercial Motor magazine?
The article highlighted the major investment MV Commercial has made in crane truck manufacturing, specialist vehicle production and fabrication at its 64-acre Grantham site in Lincolnshire.
Since rescuing Fruehauf from administration in 2021, MV Commercial has invested more than £12 million into the Grantham facility. That investment has not only helped bring Fruehauf’s legendary trailers back onto UK roads, supporting growth in market share to almost 50%, but has also transformed the site into a major centre for specialist vehicle production.
A growing centre for crane truck production
While Grantham remains the home of Fruehauf trailer manufacturing, the site has also become central to MV Commercial’s expanding crane truck operation.
Today, the facility supports dedicated crane truck fabrication lines, specialist subframe manufacturing, crane fitting, body building and bespoke vehicle production. This gives MV Commercial the ability to build a wide range of purpose-built vehicles for operators across construction, infrastructure, utilities, logistics, plant movement and specialist transport.
From crane rigids and crane artics to cabin spec bodies, cheesewedges, beavertails and bespoke lift-and-shift vehicles, the Grantham team is helping to deliver high-specification trucks built around real operator requirements.

Investment in people, production and technology
The Commercial Motor article also covered the continued growth of MV Commercial’s production capability at Grantham, including investment in robotic welding, in-house design and engineering expertise, and the development of new processes to improve efficiency and consistency across the build programme.
These investments are helping the team increase capacity while maintaining the flexibility needed to produce highly specialised vehicles.
MV Commercial is also continuing to invest in skills for the future, working with apprenticeships and local colleges to help develop the next generation of welders, fabricators, engineers and specialist vehicle builders.

Supporting operators across the UK
As an independent manufacturer and supplier, MV Commercial is able to offer customers the right chassis, crane and body combination for the job. That independence allows the business to work across leading chassis and crane manufacturers, giving operators greater choice when specifying vehicles for demanding applications.
Alongside production at Grantham, MV Commercial continues to support customers through its ready-to-go fleet, nationwide service support and specialist aftersales capability.
