Thank you for visiting MV Commercial Ltd. We have been supplying Commercial Vehicle Solutions to the UK Transport Industry for over a decade and we thought we would give you a brief overview of our History here at MV Commercial. Our beginnings started in 2001 with a Fleet of 20 vehicles which we imported and sold, the MV Stands for “Motor Vision” which was the original trading name. In 2001 as we were becoming more established, we had received numerous enquiries regarding hiring vehicles. We quickly realized that there was a demand from our customers and an opportunity to hire vehicles on a local level. We soon realised that more and more companies were interested in alleviating the overhead and capital expenditure of asset purchases of LCV and HGV’s. We set out to provide vehicle solutions for company owners on flexible terms at a fixed cost per month. Business was progressing well when after much consideration we decided to invest in a United Vehicle Rental Franchise towards the end of 2001. At the time we could see a real opportunity in the rental market but it wasn't until late 2002 that we moved into what is now our established marketplace. Our Managing Director, Tom O'rourke had always been passionate about HGV's and has held a heavy goods vehicle licence for over 25 years. His father had been a truck driver and as a boy he had travelled the length and breadth of the country. It was this passion and knowledge of the trucking and transport industry that organically transformed MV commercial into a niche rental business. Supplying crane mounted vehicles or lorry loaders as they are sometimes known throughout the UK and Ireland. Still very much at the heart of the business Tom has an inimitable understanding of his vehicles and market. |

In 2003 we made our first acquisition, a company by the name of Regal Truck Rental based in Luton with a 150 strong fleet. They were specialist hirers of hgv's ranging from 7.5t – 44t tractor units. Strategically this provided the opportunity for us to service south of the border and considerably increased our fleet size.
In 2004 we made our second acquisition, this time a well established national vehicle rental firm with rolling stock of almost 400 vehicles in the name of TLS, part of GE Capital based in Manchester. This was a landmark buyout and firmly established our presence in the UK. It was around this time that we diversified the business to not only hire our four core mainstream products which are:
- 3.5T LCV’s
- 7.5T, 18T and 26T Boxes & Curtains
- 7.5T, 18T and 26T Temp Control Vehicles
- 4x2 and 6x2 Tractor Units
Around this time we identified that hiring more specialist niche vehicles was not only crucial to our long term future, but there was also a demand within certain sectors where these types of vehicles were not available for hire. Therefore, since 2005 we have developed our 5th core hire product which is primarily truck mounted crane or lorry mounted crane vehicles as they are known. These products have become a big part of our truck rental fleet and our used sales division.
Sadly in 2005 Foden announced that they would no longer manufacture in the UK and as if by fate we were lucky enough to acquire one of their premises close to our head office. This meant that we now had a facility to manage the day to day services and no longer required the use of local sub contractors. We could bring everything in house such as servicing, maintenance, repairs and painting. We now have a team of experienced and highly skilled mechanics, body builders and painters to support our ever evolving fleet and customer needs. With a 60ft paint oven we can now accommodate even larger builds and refurbishment work.
To this day we can be described as a specialist rental and used truck business. We provide anything from 7.5t to 26t fridge vehicles and regularly hire 44t tractor units for short or long-term contracts. We buy, sell and hire 15-125 tonne meter cranes on rigids, 4, 6 and 8 wheelers as well as double drive tractor units with 65-125 tonne meter cranes. We are an independent business providing an excellent understanding of most aspects of the truck business.
Over the years we have expanded our network coverage with the opening of depots in Luton and Bolton; these depots service our customers in the Midlands and London areas. We employ over 30 staff and currently hire in excess of 700 vehicles. Our customer base range from owner-driver operators, through to small and large corporate fleets throughout the United Kingdom. With considerable investment in our people, fleet and infrastructure in recent years our business has gone from strength to strength. With a willingness and passion for our business our current customers are met with a level of service rarely experienced in the commercial vehicle industry.
